How does v2ai-check detect if a service is blocked?

We load a tiny asset (favicon) from each service directly from your browser. If the request times out or fails, the service is unreachable from your network. This runs entirely client-side — we never see your results.

Is this safe to run? Does it log anything?

Yes. All checks happen in your browser. We store no IP logs, no query history. The only data we keep is anonymous aggregate counts (how many people scanned, what % saw which services blocked) to maintain the Freedom Index.

Why are ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini blocked in some countries?

Two reasons: (1) national-level network filtering (deep packet inspection in some regions) that blocks the domain entirely; (2) OpenAI/Anthropic/Google themselves geo-restrict access from certain countries. Either way, your real connection is visibly limited.

What is a DNS leak and why does it matter?

Every website you visit starts with a DNS lookup — typically unencrypted and sent to your ISP. This means your ISP (and anyone on your network) can see every domain you visit in plain text, even with HTTPS. DNS encryption stops this.

What does the Freedom Score actually measure?

It combines three signals: (1) AI service reachability — are key tools like ChatGPT available? (2) Social/media reachability — YouTube, Telegram, etc. (3) Privacy posture — DNS, WebRTC, HTTPS, tracker protection. Higher score = freer, more private connection.

How accurate are the results?

Service checks are real-time and reflect the exact moment of the scan. False positives can occur if a service is briefly down or rate-limiting. Privacy checks (WebRTC, HTTPS) are deterministic and always accurate.
